CONSCIOUS CRAFTSMANSHIP

With the first LANIUS x Manufactum menswear collection, a new perspective on clothing emerges: reduced to the essentials, developed from genuine experience, and with a clear demand for quality and longevity. The focus is on pieces that endure everyday wear – meticulously designed in fit, material, and workmanship. Clothing that doesn't need to be explained but feels natural. Effortlessly combinable. Reliable. Timeless.

TWO BRANDS, ONE
PROMISE OF QUALITY:
FOR LONGEVITY AND
METICULOUS CRAFTSMANSHIP.

LANIUS - Fair fashion with attitude and responsibility

There is clothing that stands out. And there is clothing that lasts. The fashion label LANIUS stands for the latter: for fair fashion with attitude. Clothing that combines form, material, and responsibility.

LANIUS was born from the aspiration to design fashion more consciously, quietly, and sustainably – long before "sustainability" became a common term in the industry. Since our beginnings, we have worked with natural, carefully selected materials. Today, a large part of the collections is GOTS-certified. Two collections are developed per year, which are not oriented towards fast seasonal changes, but towards what clothing should achieve in everyday life: to accompany, endure, and inspire.

This is not about the next wave of trends, but about everyday choices: a shirt that feels good because it is well made. A pair of jeans that is loved and worn for years. Fabrics that do not wear out, but develop over time. Cuts and fits that require no explanation, but simply work. At LANIUS, we see clothing as something personal – as a long-term companion. Designed for people who need fewer items, but have more confidence in what they wear and value longevity. Quality is crucial; the attitude behind it is defining. The result is a wardrobe that is reliable – and outlasts seasons

Manufactum - Good things still exist.

For nearly 40 years, the retail company Manufactum has stood for conscious everyday consumption: with an extraordinary range of carefully selected, high-quality products defined not by trends, but by their utility.

Manufactum represents an ethos that does not merely claim quality, but makes it visible in everyday life – through the use of the products and over the passage of time. The focus is on products crafted to function, endure, and gain character over time rather than losing value.

Designed for longevity, the questions asked when selecting these good things are always the same: How is it made? What is it made of? And how does it change through use?

This results in a curated assortment of products that come with their own story, which Manufactum shares to enable its customers to consume consciously.

A NEW
PERSPECTIVE
ON CLOTHING

With the first menswear collection, we are expanding our product range – together with Manufactum. Two brands that view fashion from different perspectives are united by a clear attitude: quality, longevity, and conscious consumption. A conversation with Head of Design Christian Rühl.

How did the collaboration come about?

The initiative came from our team – combined with a long-standing, trusting partnership with Manufactum. The idea to develop a menswear capsule collection quickly emerged from our discussions. Also as a learning opportunity: How does the LANIUS man think, buy, and wear clothes?

Why menswear now?

It just felt right. The demand had been there for a while – and our values are not limited to womenswear. The cooperation was an ideal entry point to consciously explore this field.

How does LANIUS approach menswear design?

Through what is truly needed. We asked ourselves: What do men actually wear? This led to a collection of essential pieces – minimalist, functional, and designed for longevity. No trends, but reliable companions.

Fewer classic
trends, more real
utility.

What role do timelessness and wearability play?

A central one. The idea was to create a kind of "uniform" – in a positive sense: pieces that always work, can be effortlessly combined, and don't need to be questioned.

Were there any specific inspirations?

Fewer classic trends, more real utility. We worked with our surroundings, tested fits, and drew inspiration from existing favorite pieces – from the perfect T-shirt to well-fitting chinos.

According to what criteria were materials selected?

Honesty, haptics, and durability. A T-shirt shouldn't be transparent, a sweater must have substance. Materials should feel good – and deliver exactly what is expected of them.

What does CONSCIOUS CRAFTSMANSHIP mean to you?

For us, it's the combination of conscious material selection, thoughtful construction, and genuine suitability for everyday use. Less decorative craftsmanship, more precision in detail – from fabric quality to internal finishing.

How was the creative exchange with Manufactum?

Very trusting. There were clear guidelines – for example, regarding product types or colors – but a lot of freedom in the design. This openness greatly enriched the process.

Where did your perspectives complement each other?

Manufactum brings a strong functional perspective, and we contribute our textile and sustainable expertise. This resulted in a very balanced collection.

Timeless. Effortless.
Suitable for everyday use.

What significance does the collection have for LANIUS?

It is an important milestone. Also as a perspective: to understand if and how menswear can develop in the long term.

Who is the collection designed for?

For men who consume consciously. Who buy less, but better – and are looking for clothing that will accompany them for a long time.

Three words to describe the collection?

Timeless. Effortless. Suitable for everyday use.

One piece that always works?

The overshirt – or the perfect chino.

What makes a piece of clothing indispensable?

When it feels natural. When you don't think about it – but simply wear it.

IT JUST
FELT RIGHT.
