Animal Welfare at LANIUS

Responsibility Begins with Material Selection

At LANIUS, we understand fashion as a responsibility – towards people, nature, and animals. That's why we make conscious decisions when selecting our materials and define clear requirements for their origin and processing.

Where animal natural fibers are used, we rely on recognized standards, transparency, and traceability. At the same time, we consistently refrain from using materials that are not compatible with our understanding of animal welfare.

Responsible Wool

Wool is a high-quality natural material with excellent wearing properties. To ensure it meets our demands for quality and animal welfare, we only use sheep's wool whose origin is traceable and which complies with recognized standards.

At LANIUS, only sheep's wool that meets at least one of the following standards is used:

  • GOTS-certified wool (Australia excluded as country of origin)
  • certified recycled wool
  • Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)

Since July 2026, LANIUS has been officially RWS-certified.

The Responsible Wool Standard ensures that high requirements for animal welfare, pasture management, and the traceability of wool along the entire supply chain are met.

With the official certification according to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), we are strengthening our commitment to responsible wool sourcing and greater transparency along the entire supply chain.

Against Lamb Mutilation
(Mulesing)

LANIUS strongly rejects the practice of mulesing. Together with numerous other companies such as FOUR PAWS, we are advocating in an open letter for change in the Australian wool industry and politics – with the aim of permanently ending this practice. For our GOTS-certified sheep's wool, we fundamentally exclude Australia as a country of origin.

Through RWS and GOTS certification, the exclusion of lamb mutilation is verified and transparently traceable.

for animal materials

Down and Feathers

The use of animal down and feathers – for example from geese or ducks – is not permitted at LANIUS. Instead, for our collections, we rely on responsible alternatives such as 100% recycled polyester wadding.

Mohair

Starting in 2027, we will no longer use mohair in our collections.

Fur and materials from wild animals

Fur and materials from wild animals are not permitted at LANIUS.

Cashmere Wool

Cashmere is exceptionally soft and durable. That's why we pay close attention to high quality and responsibility standards when selecting our suppliers, as well as to long-term partnerships.

Yak wool

Yak fibers come from regions where the animals are traditionally kept in their natural habitat. Here too, we work with carefully selected partners and ensure a responsible origin of the materials.

PETA-Approved Vegan

The PETA-Approved Vegan seal identifies vegan fashion and ensures that the entire item and its manufacturing are free from animal-derived ingredients. Animal-based softeners are often used in textile finishing. We refrain from using them and instead opt for vegan alternatives.

Responsibility with Transparency

For us, responsibility means making decisions traceable.

That's why we rely on independent certifications, transparent supply chains, and clear material guidelines. Together with our partners, we want to further strengthen animal welfare and design fashion responsibly.
